Dark Adversity

29 07 2008

Into each life some rain must fall, some days must be dark and dreary.

With problems keep coming our way, we got to hold ourselves together and face the adversity.. There is no such thing as impossible to do in this world.. Definitely we will find a way for you all..

Stay strong.. Focus on what you are doing now and do your best..

HK

23 07 2008

Back and beat.. HK was great~ Bought quite a load.. 19.9kg.. Nearly overweight (it would be if I had bought that Gold Stan Smith Shoes)..

Weather was better than I had expected as the past week before the trip it was raining (though it was hotter than Sg).. Heard that it is a sign of an incoming typhoon..

One thing I hate was the influx of PRCs.. Now I truly understand why HK ppl hate it when they are associated with PRCs.. Rude and vulgar ppl.. Felt like punching some of them.. GRRR~~ Can feel there is a double standard when it comes to dealing with PRCs (substandard)..

Oh well.. I should be sleeping.. Updates will come soon..

Last Day @ Work

16 07 2008

Dar’s last day was yesterday and though i found it quite weird to have the last year in the middle of the week, we are still happy that it has ended.. Last day.. It was difficult for her and for me as well.. Though it was for a short period of 2 months, the friendship and attachment formed with the people there can’t be neglected and especially if they treated you damn well..

For me, I bought a cake and wrote cards for everyone in the department.. And the best part was there was an award ceremony during my last day and it seems like the whole company was there to bid farewell.. I must admit that my stint at Jones Lang LaSalle was very rewarding and I am happy that I could be there for my internship.. I think it is good that you appreciate people for what they did for you and it can really make them feel different.. Everyone was so happy when they look at the card that I wrote for them, though is was nothing special, it sure brought tears to their heart.. I left the place with a smile on my face and a tinge of sadness to leave.. (Shihui still own me some photos)

The only sad part was that I have to come up with the internship writeup for submission but I am sure there is no short of things to write as I have learn quite a bit and there is so much to share..

For Dar, being more IT-savvy in term of editing photos.. Did a photo collage for the people she worked with and send them a farewell email, with a personal touch to everyone’s comment.. Maybe I should start to learn how to use the program.. Anyone can see the difference in the photos that I post and the ones that post.. Mine is straight out of the camera while Dar’s photos seems so professionally done..

We wanted to have Korean food @ the restaurant in Heeren’s.. But it seems that it has been quite sometime since we go to town and we forgotten that Level 5 is under renovation.. Other than the NYDC cafe that is renowned for their bad service, there isn’t one food outlet there.. No wonder the place seems so desolate and empty..

We decide to try out luck at Cineleisure instead that choose to eat at Chicago Steakhouse.. I will post the photos soon after I get from Dar.. More importantly, it is their service and steak that interest me.. I am quite impressed by their service (although there are some negative feedbacks on their service).. Friendly staff that are proactive to ask you what you want.. Bring water and pass the menu to you even before you ask for them.. Serving with a smile.. That’s more like it..

Steak.. I think it is quite good actually.. I love medium rare steak and with that tinge of blood and meat juice.. That’s is the reason why people pay so much for them.. Without the blood and meat juice.. It would be just like some other piece of meat.. The simplicity of the steak makes it easier to taste the original flavour of the steak.. Unlike some restaurant that mask the flavour behind sauces that are overwhelming..

But the problem with the place is they are only good with steaks.. Rest of the food aren’t really nice.. Salad is quite roughly cut and the pieces are quite large for one to consume.. The soup ain’t that bad but it can be a bit thicker.. The seafood spaghetti is quite amateurishly done and ingredients are not fresh enough..

I really miss the times that Dar and me just spend the evening away walking down orchard.. It doesn’t really matter what we do.. What matters is who you are with.. To be someone that appreciate you for the things you do.. That is more important..

SDE, SDE is the BEST

16 07 2008

Went back to school yesterday to help out for Rag.. Didnt expect the Cha Eng and gang to be in school.. They were there to do some preparation for O Week trial games this Saturday and sadly I could not be there as I will be in Hong Kong.. I’m glad that Ryan is able to help out for it as it is certainly better if a senior could be there to guide them and help to improve the whole event..

Looking at the messy studio, dirty hands, tools & materials lying around the place and tired faces.. It bring back this nostalgic feeling in my heart.. 2 years ago, that was my first encounter with Rag.. When I am still a freshie.. Could still remember vividly of how the whole thing started.. Didn’t want to be a dancer from the start as I, together with clarence and stamford, wanted to be stilt walkers instead.. It seems more fun to be a dancer and that’s when I decide to make the switch.. It was quite tough for me as I was away in Taiwan for a week and I am glad that the rest of the guys are there to help me pick up the pace..

Float building was interesting as well as it always face the problem of not enough manpower to finish the float.. I could still remember that I stayed for some of the nights to fold flowers made out of colored trash bag.. It may seems easy but the going gets tough when you have to fold more than 1000 flowers.. I can still remember the last batch of flowers that didn’t look like flowers anymore..

It is the bonding that I had during rag that spark the passion and willingness to do what I do.. Giving back to SDE, hoping that this culture and tradition can continue.. It is the things that we go through that we will learn more about the people around us.. This is something quite important for us as we are a small group of people and these people are the ones that you will meet and work with after you entered the working world..

Hopefully, more people will follow suit, come and help out.. What can be better than seeing our legacy is being carried on.. What can be better than to see the finished product to strut proudly before you.. What can be better than to see SDE lift the awards once again before your eyes..

SDE, SDE is the BEST~~

Transformer

1 07 2008

Damn.. The DVD that I bought last night is faulty.. After many times of replay.. It keep getting stuck at 18:45.. The part where the Captain William Lennox is leading his crew across the dessert towards the village after the vicious attack of U.S. SOCCENT FWD military base  in Qatar by Blackout (MH-53J Pave Low III)..

I really hate this.. Hope that after the change, everything will be fine and it wont get jammed.. Cos the shop is about to move and there are in the midst of EVERYTHING MUST GO sale.. $10 for a DVD is damn worth it~~

Especially if it is Transformer~~

Counting Down

1 07 2008

8 more working days to end of internship and end of Dar Dar’s work..

Soon we wont have to wake up freaking early in the morning, squeeze with everyone else in public transport and feel freaking tired at the end of the day..

Well.. It is not that I don’t like it.. I realised that in order not to feel like that.. There should be some motivation for one to work towards.. I finally realised why there are people who are willing to take a pay cut and work at a place where they like the work..

Some people like to teach..

Some people like to market product..

Some people like the outdoors..

Some people like to work in the comfort of their home..

For me..

I like to work at a place that provide me with a challenge..

It is not that valuation department is not challenging.. It is just that the work that I am handling as an intern is not challenging..

Doing something that crack my brain keeps me motivated..

If you are doing something day in day out.. The same exact routine.. Can make someone dumb and retarded.. Imagine you are George Jetson and all you do is press a button to produce a sprocket..

Or Homer Simpson pressing a button at the nuclear factory.. No matter how smart a person, they will look more and more like him..

Who won’t turn stupid and hate their job..
